Etsy photo sizes and cropping guide
Keep the shape, finish, and handmade details of your item visible when you prepare photos for an Etsy listing. Start with a sharp original, then review how each crop frames the product.

Give listing photos and shop banners different jobs
Etsy recommends listing photos at least 2000 pixels in both width and height. The square, landscape, and portrait listing presets in this tool meet that recommendation. The separate 1600 × 400 banner preset is for a big shop banner, not a listing photo.
A tall vase or a wide necklace can lose important edges in a square crop. Use Keep whole photo for padding, or move the crop so the whole item fits. Check the actual Etsy listing preview before publishing.
App export presets
| Preset | Pixels | Ratio |
|---|---|---|
| Square listing | 2000 × 2000 | 1:1 |
| Landscape listing | 2700 × 2025 | 4:3 |
| Portrait listing | 2000 × 2500 | 4:5 |
| Big shop banner | 1600 × 400 | 4:1 |
Presets are starting points, not guarantees of marketplace acceptance. Pixel dimensions and file size are different: JPEG size targets can reduce quality while preserving dimensions.
Crop or keep the whole photo?
For a tall ceramic vase, start with Portrait listing or Fit. For a shop banner, leave room around your product for the much wider frame.
In the editor, drag the crop selection or adjust its four corners. Use Keep whole photo to add background padding. Crop-risk warnings estimate contrasting detail; they can miss an item or flag background detail, so always check the preview yourself.
Batch workflow
- Upload JPG, PNG, or WebP originals.
- Select Etsy and any other destinations.
- Choose dimensions, format, and an optional JPEG file-size target.
- Review every crop and process the batch. Cancel if needed; completed exports remain available.
- Download the ZIP organized by marketplace and preset.
